Exelixis has experienced many incarnations throughout its long history. Reaching the 30-year mark as a commercial oncology leader was a challenging task, and the company wanted to use the anniversary to celebrate its employees and their commercial successes as a company. The goal was to authentically express its evolved strategic ambitions, focus on patients, and employee commitment through a refreshed brand campaign and bespoke web experience.

The brand campaign reinforced Exelixis’ single-minded focus on providing life-saving therapies for patients by demonstrating its commitment to expanding the success of its commercial franchise with new clinical programs, partnerships, and employee-focused initiatives.
The primary goal of the website content strategy and design approach was to bring the science, commercial, and employee programs to life. To further enhance the storytelling, photography and illustrations were commissioned to tell the story of the company’s founding and eventual rise into the organization it has since become.
The broad clinical portfolio drove the requirement for a sophisticated pipeline UI that allowed for filtering based on molecule type, tumor type, trial, and development phase. The commercial programs were highlighted for quick access to product websites and drug safety information.
A Workday integration improved the job seeker experience, enabling more effective analytics and tracking while driving candidate acquisition.
The employee experience was highlighted throughout the site to drive recruitment efforts, providing a glimpse into the tight-knit culture.
